In this post I will share a few short poems by worthy authors which have assisted me in what I call ‘snatching out the ‘crazy out of me’. These words have brought comfort to my cracked skull…ahem soul. These words say to me, ‘You are not alone child!’ My hope is that if perchance you have found yourself sitting in a corner of dark, big room, that these words help you see that you are also not alone.
A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness.
~Robert Frost
I didn't want consolation; I wanted expression. I wanted to find the place where I was hurt, to locate it exactly, and to give it a mouth. Pain is very often a maimed creature without a mouth. Through the agency of the poem that is powerful enough to clarify feelings into facts, I am no longer dumb, not speechless, not lost. Language is a finding place, not a hiding place.
~Jeanette Winterson
certain words sharp
like a prick against chilled skin
trauma is what trauma does
a gentle reminder not to give in
but the ice has barely frozen
the ice is far too thin
a simple prick to reminder
of who you are and whose you've been.

I invite you to imagine the most
precious baby that you have ever seen.
By some act of fate, you have been
made responsible for her.
You will witness her entire journey,
from childhood to death.
You can learn what she desires,
discover what brings her to life.
Listen to what calls to her from the
deepest parts of her being...
You alone will feel her most electric
and her most tragic moments.
You are her sacred witness.
Her most faithful and trusted
unconditional lover.
Remember, that baby is you.
Be gentle with her.

Me
There is someone I want you to see
The girl who is inside of me
She is so pure, so filled with love
She yearns for something from above
A sign that tells her it's ok
To show the world just what's inside
To not be afraid or try to hide
I choose to let her be my guide
Reckoning now, she yearns for truth
And what was real when in her youth
All she knows is how she feels
A master of her own domain
Not tied down or bound by chains
My ego must now set her free
This girl inside is
Finally me
The woman I am supposed to be

Children Unlike Mommy
I want to raise children
in ways that I have not known
they will not spend
majority of their adult lives
overcoming childhood trauma
love will never be foreign
it will indeed be their home
and my children
with their kind souls
will always invite others to visit
peace and light
yeah that's what they will know
