I am sad and I can’t get up

Do you remember the saying, “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!” it was a commercial in the late 80s early 90s about giving old people this alarm-like tech bracelet that they could press if they fell while they were alone and needed immediate assistance? Yeah, you’re probably too young to know about it, or too old to remember it! Ha! Well, ladies and gentlemen, to you I present the concept of “I am sad and I can’t get up”. So, to clarify, I am referring to being in the deep state of depression, the type you find yourself in such a dark hole, no light, and only emptiness – yeah that’s the one – and needing help to “get up” sort of speak. Why is there no such button like this? Shit, anyone out there that is tech savvy and is ready to jump on the programming/data/AI/app wagon, ring me up! Just like in the 80s and 90s, people should be able to wear a bracelet/tech device, and no, not your smart watch! Although… why not? An app that integrates your physiological stats and translates the data collected into a ‘Mental Health State’ which is then connected directly to a local mental health facility/therapists who would get the alert and reach out to you? Well…maybe I am on to something here – hit me up techies! Ok, so yeah, maybe not a watch but a ‘ring’ of sorts or a ‘bracelet’ of sorts, that is equipped with the sensors needed to track data points related to mental health (look up some NIH research techies!).

And all you would have to say is, “I am sad and I can’t get up”, and you would be flooded with past messages – either phone, email, texts- from people that love you and care about you – that would be read out loud by this bracelet (or through whatever smart device you have on!), message/text/comment after message/text/comment of how you are loved, of how you have contributed to your people or society or work or whatever – would just play loud, throughout all your devices – cell phone, Alexa, Siri, etc. While at the same time it would send a “CODE BLUE” to local mental health facilities. Would that help you get up? Maybe…….

Guys, I am sad and I can’t get up.
